Privacy Policy for PSP Detector

Last updated: 1 July 2026

1. Introduction

PSP Detector ("the Extension") is a browser extension designed to detect the Payment Service Provider (PSP) used on the current webpage. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

The Extension is designed to minimise data collection. It primarily operates by reading static metadata from the webpage to determine the PSP in use.

2a. Anonymous Usage Analytics

To understand which features are used and to improve detection coverage, the Extension may send privacy-preserving, aggregate usage analytics via the Google Analytics 4 Measurement Protocol. This is optional and can be turned off at any time from the Extension's Options page (Settings → "Share anonymous usage analytics").

What may be sent: anonymous feature-usage events (such as opening the popup, requesting or skipping a scan, opening or exporting history, and changing settings); for detections, the detected payment provider's name, type, and a provider-owned evidence hostname (for example checkoutshopper-live.adyen.com); a randomly generated identifier, a short-lived session identifier, and the Extension version. Exports report only the file format and a coarse row-count range.

Coarse environment information: to understand where and on what platforms the Extension is used, each event also includes a coarse, country-level location, your timezone, operating system, and browser interface language. The country is resolved via Cloudflare trace (www.cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace) and only the two-letter country code is attached to telemetry events. Raw IP values are not stored by the Extension, and no city-level or precise location is determined or sent.

What is never sent: the websites or merchant domains you visit, full URLs, page titles, page content (HTML), raw network request URLs, checkout paths, query strings, form data, payment information, or error stack traces. No browsing history is transmitted.

4. Data Usage

All information processed by the Extension is temporary and solely used to identify and display the relevant PSP information, including its logo and a short description. Anonymous telemetry events are sent to Google Analytics, and country code resolution requests are sent to Cloudflare as described above.

5. Security

While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. However, we ensure that our Extension operates with the highest standards of security practices.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our privacy policy occasionally. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page.
